Office 365 Continuation Project
Should we need to use Distance Learning
July 25, 2020
Our plan so far for the 2020-2021 school year is to present lessons in a traditional format with the students attending classroom instruction (what we have by and large recognized as normal). We realize, however that there may be circumstances that dictate otherwise. To prepare for such contingencies, the Pastor has asked that teachers implement video recording into their presentation. Each teacher will record the ‘most salient portion’ of each lesson into short videos to be posted to their Team later that day. With this library of content, any student who is absent for such reasons as COVID exposure, pink eye, strep throat, or other valid reason, can continue their studies at home.
With the onset of Coronavirus and COVID-19, Calvary Baptist School implemented a distance learning solution that included Microsoft Office 365 for Education. Since this option has been a terrific success, we will keep it in place for use only if the need arises.
We have begun a process that will make it easier for Students, Parents, and Staff to log in by changing the domain name to something much shorter. this change will go into effect in mid-August. You will receive notification via Office 365 email.
For example: firstname.lastname@example.org
will become: email@example.com
We will be training the staff during Inservice week and are already in the process of preparing new training material. Staff training will review the information we learned in March and expand on areas where we need to fill in the blanks. We will also cover the methodology necessary to present a more consistent online classroom environment. Training and support will also be continued one-on-one as necessary.
We have also outlined several areas that will be streamlined and standardized to be consistent across each grade and teacher. This will help parents as they navigate Teams (classes) and will present a uniform appearance throughout the school. Standardization will be especially accommodating in such cases where: Parents have more than one student, Students progress from year-to-year, Junior and Senior High School students have more than one teacher, Administration evaluates class information such as Lesson Plans and Class Assignments.
